Judging & Methodology

The Filipino Music Awards follows a process designed to recognize both artistic and technical excellence and measurable achievement within Filipino music.

The awards process is built on four principles: industry participation, professional evaluation, measurable success, and independent verification.

Entry & Screening

Record labels, distributors, artist management companies, and other qualified music industry representatives submit eligible recordings and creative works for consideration.

Entries are reviewed against the Filipino Music Awards’ eligibility and technical requirements before advancing to evaluation by the Jury Committee.

Jury Composition

The Filipino Music Awards Jury Committee is composed of distinguished individuals with relevant knowledge and experience across the music industry.

Jurors may include esteemed artists, seasoned music industry professionals, and influential voices from leading music publications.

Jury selection is guided by four principles:

Expertise. Independence. Diversity. Integrity.

Jurors are expected to evaluate eligible entries according to the established criteria of each award and independently of personal or commercial interests.

Jury Evaluation

Eligible entries advancing from screening are evaluated through an official scoring process.

Evaluation may consider criteria relevant to each award, including artistic excellence, technical mastery, songwriting, performance, musicianship, innovation, production, creative vision, cultural relevance, and overall achievement.

For Genre Awards, evaluation places particular emphasis on excellence and mastery within the musical characteristics of the respective genre.

Measurable Success

The Filipino Music Awards also considers objective indicators of achievement and audience impact where applicable.

Measures may include:

  • Chart performance
  • Commercial milestones
  • Fan support
  • Concert performance and attendance
  • Other relevant and verifiable indicators of achievement

These measures provide an objective dimension to the evaluation of an artist’s or work’s demonstrated impact during the eligibility period.

WEIGHTING

GRAND AWARDS

For the Grand Awards, the Filipino Music Awards methodology combines professional jury evaluation with measurable success to recognize both the quality of the work and its demonstrated impact.

20% — Jury Evaluation
Artistic and technical excellence assessed through the Filipino Music Awards’ official scoring criteria.

80% — Measurable Success
Chart performance, commercial milestones, streaming and consumption performance, fan support, sold-out concerts and tours, and other applicable indicators of demonstrated achievement.

The applicable methodology and weighting for the Filipino Music Awards 2026 will be applied consistently to all eligible nominees within the same award category.

GENRE AWARDS

The Genre Awards comprise six categories: Alternative Song of the Year, Folk Song of the Year, Hip-Hop Song of the Year, Pop Song of the Year, R&B Song of the Year, and Rock Song of the Year.

Genre Awardees are determined solely by the official Filipino Music Awards jury, with each nominated work evaluated according to the following criteria:

Public Voting

Public voting is used only for award categories specifically designated by the Filipino Music Awards as People’s Choice or public-voted awards.

Where applicable, winners are determined according to the official voting mechanics published for that awards cycle.

Public voting does not form part of the Grand Awards or Genre Awards unless expressly stated by the Filipino Music Awards.

Conflict-of-Interest Policy

Members of the Filipino Music Awards Jury Committee must disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest involving an entry under consideration.

A material conflict may include a direct professional, financial, managerial, familial, or other significant relationship with an artist, creator, record label, management company, music company, or other entity connected to an entry.

Where a material conflict exists, the juror must abstain from evaluating or voting on the affected entry.

Jurors may not accept payment, gifts, favors, benefits, or other consideration intended to influence an evaluation or vote.

Sponsorship, advertising, media partnerships, commercial relationships, or other business engagements with the Filipino Music Awards, its presenter, producer, or partners shall have no bearing on eligibility, nominations, judging, or results.

Validation & Audit Procedures

The Filipino Music Awards maintains verification and tabulation procedures designed to protect the accuracy, independence, confidentiality, and integrity of the awards process.

Verification may include review of:

  • Eligibility and release information
  • Artist, songwriter, producer, and other applicable credits
  • Supporting submission materials
  • Jury scores and tabulation
  • Applicable chart, commercial, audience, and performance data
  • Conflicts of interest and required recusals
  • Final results prior to announcement

For the 2025 Filipino Music Awards, SGV & Company served as the Official Tabulation Partner, overseeing the auditing and verification process under strict monitoring and confidentiality. Final results were sealed and secured prior to their announcement during the ceremony.

The Filipino Music Awards may appoint an independent tabulation and verification partner for each awards cycle to oversee or validate the final results.

The FMA reserves the right to investigate irregularities, request additional documentation, correct verified errors, invalidate ineligible entries or votes, and take appropriate action where necessary to preserve the integrity of the awards.

Awards Integrity

The credibility of the Filipino Music Awards rests on the integrity of its selection process.

No artist, record label, management company, music company, sponsor, advertiser, media partner, or other commercial entity may purchase or otherwise secure a nomination or award.

Commercial relationships with the Filipino Music Awards, its presenter, producer, sponsors, or media partners do not provide preferential treatment in eligibility, evaluation, nomination, tabulation, or final results.

The Filipino Music Awards is committed to recognizing excellence responsibly and credibly, celebrating the achievements of the Filipino music industry while strengthening the standards by which its artistry and impact are recognized.
